Excitement! A very passionate performance!!! Rattle records the September 14, 2017 concert celebrating his appointment as Music Director of the London Symphony Orchestra! On the occasion of Rattle's appointment as Music Director of the London Symphony Orchestra, ten days of concerts were held to celebrate the inauguration. This is a recording of the first day of that series of concerts, the very concert on the occasion of his official appointment as Music Director. The program, which focused on works by British composers, was very Rattle & LSO, and you could feel the high precision of the performance and the enthusiasm of the orchestra members, who captured and expressed Rattle's thoughts without fail. Birtwistle's Violin Concerto, which emphasizes the dialogue between orchestra and violin, was premiered in 2011 by the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Marcello Lehninger (conductor), and Tetzlaff's violin. The work is studded with brilliant passages in the violin part, and Tetzlaff's virtuosity can be appreciated.
