Why this aircraft matters
JA8157 was the last Boeing 747SR to fly for ANA. It ended the service of a domestic workhorse in March 2006.
The 747SR—“Short Range”—was made for Japanese domestic routes. It featured a reinforced structure, stronger undercarriage, and carried up to 550 passengers in dense configurations. This particular jet first flew on 15 October 1981. It joined ANA on 17 December 1981—serving for over 24 years before its final commercial flight.
In its farewell flights, crew members honoured the plane by adding a bouquet and “thank you” title to its nose. It was a final salute to a beloved member of the fleet.
This model preserves the end of an era. It reflects adaptability and the jet’s vital role in Japan’s high-volume, short-haul aviation.
How to use it
Display it prominently on your desk, shelf, or in a diorama. The included stand allows for an in-flight angle or you can pose it on the ground with landing gear down.
No tools, glue, or paints are required. It’s factory-finished and ready to showcase straight out of the box.
This is a diecast model. It is fragile and not recommended for children.
