Herbie Hancock And The New Standard All Stars
Description:
Herbie Hancock released the album "The New Standard" in 1995 as a new attempt to break down the barriers of modern jazz standards by arranging and reconstructing modern compositions. The members of this album were Michael Brecker on saxophone, John Scofield on guitar, Dave Holland on bass, Jack DiJohnette on drums, and Don Alaias on percussion, making for one of the strongest lineups ever. And now, two years after its release, an archive of a performance at a Swiss jazz festival in 1997, where the same members led the group, is available! This album was recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland on July 14, 1997, and the set list is all selections from "The New Standard".Not only is the album reproduced, but the drum and percussion solos by Jack DiJohnette and Don Arias are outstanding! This is a must-listen archive for fans who can enjoy the superb performances of these ultra-technical players! Imported Japanese version
