Description:
Riley Walker, a singer/songwriter from Chicago, of whom Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant is an avowed fan, has released his new album "Deaf Man Glance"! His new sound is progressive, jazzy, psychedelic, and post-rock, digesting everything from punk to noise to British folk! Leroy Buck, formerly of Wilco, co-produced the album. For this album, his third for Dead Oceans, Riley says he aimed to move away from the acoustic, improvisational sound of his previous albums and create a more crafted, otherworldly sound. The finished album is a work full of imagination, just as he had hoped. The album has a more Chicago sound," he says. Chicago sounds like a train that is constantly coming toward you but never arrives. That's the sound that's always ringing in my ears. The single "Telluride Speed" is available from the album. The track begins with a jazzy, dreamy tone reminiscent of Nick Drake, accompanied by a light flute tone, and then takes a turn toward a progressive style towards the end of the track, which shows the range of his songwriting and sound that he has focused on this time.
