Heat- and frost-resistant cameras can operate across a wide range of temperatures throughout the year in the UK. The weatherproof housing protects the camera’s internal electronic components from damage caused by various weather conditions. That said, camera lenses should be protected from direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure can weaken image quality over time.

This camera can easily perform in frosty conditions, thanks to its protective housing. Temperatures in the UK rarely drop below -25°C, so the system will have no trouble operating in those temperature and conditions.

The camera base diameter is measured in centimeters, which indicates the overall size of the camera. Cameras are typically mounted to the wall or ceiling using three or four screws. Drawing diagrams can help you choose the right-sized cameras and determine the proper placement for installation. You can also use extending bases to position the camera further from the wall and conceal the cable connections inside. If you need extending bases, please contact us after your purchase, and we’ll arrange them for a small additional fee. We offer both PVC and metal extending bases.

Turret range cameras can be adjusted manually either during installation or afterward. This means that regardless of where the camera base is mounted, you can always manually change the direction of the camera to view different parts of the landscape—provided there are no objects obstructing the view. Please note that the adjustment must be done manually, which means you need physical access to the camera. These cameras are not motorized and therefore cannot be adjusted remotely using a joystick or DVR commands.

Hikvision and Hilook Camera Night Vision IR and ColorVu
There are two different lighting technologies built into the cameras: Infrared (IR) and ColorVu (24/7 full-color lighting). With Infrared technology, the camera’s lighting is invisible to the human eye and is used primarily for night vision in black-and-white mode. On the other hand, ColorVu technology uses visible lighting, allowing the camera to capture colorful footage both during the day and at night. Recently, full-day and night color technology (such as ColorVu) has become more popular than the older IR technology.

Hikvision and Hilook Camera Moist and Rain Resistance
Outdoor range cameras are designed for use outside, as they are resistant to rain and moisture. However, this is different from being fully waterproof, meaning they cannot be submerged in water, as they are not built to withstand water pressure. That said, they will function perfectly in rainy conditions and are built to last for years outdoors, making them ideal for UK-style weather.

Hikvision and Hilook Heat and Freeze Resistance
As outdoor cameras, these devices are built to withstand both summer heat and winter cold to a reasonable extent. Most models operate effectively within a temperature range of -25°C to +40°C, which is generally sufficient to handle the fluctuations of the UK’s climate. If the temperature falls outside of this range, by up to around 20%, the cameras may temporarily shut down to prevent internal damage. However, they will automatically resume operation once the temperature returns to within the supported range.

Hikvision and Hilook Motion Detection
Motion detection is a valuable feature built into DVR software, allowing the recorder to save hard drive space by capturing only important events—specifically when movement is detected within the camera’s field of view. You can define specific zones within the camera image to tell the recorder which areas should trigger recording. Only motion occurring within these selected zones will activate the recording. An additional adjustable setting is sensitivity, which controls how easily the system reacts to movement. Modern systems Like ours, include AI-powered motion detection, which can distinguish between different types of objects, such as humans, vehicles, and pets, reducing false alarms and improving overall accuracy.
