Braunfels, Walter (1882-1954)
Description:
The Capriccio label is actively engaged in the restoration of decadent music. One of the label's most emphasized works is that of Walter Braunfels, who was persecuted by the Nazis during World War II for being of Jewish descent, but overcame this hardship and devoted himself to the development of German music in the postwar period. Braunfels has released six albums to date, all of which have been well received for their music in the vein of late German Romanticism. The collection of works for piano duo featured here will help you discover new charms of Braunfels. Originally a pianist, Braunfels' piano music is technical and has a profound flavor reminiscent of the sound of an orchestra. Tatiana Broome, who specializes in Braunfels' works, and Grosshop, who specializes in Busoni's works, give superb performances. Naxos Japan
