In 2018, the 333rd anniversary of Bach's birth, Richter's collection of Bach cantatas is re-released with Japanese lyrics and bilingual translation. No. 1 is a cantata written for the anniversary of the Annunciation on March 25, 1725, and was published at the beginning of the commemorative first volume of the old Bach cycle when it was first published in the mid-20th century. No. 182 was written for Branch Sunday, the feast one week before Easter, and was first performed on March 25, 1714.It was the first cantata written after Bach's promotion to chief court musician in Weimar. Cantata No. 158 is virtually a cantata for solo bass singing, and was written for Easter Tuesday. It is considered the shortest of Bach's cantatas. (C)RS
