The Life/form® Suction Assisted Laryngoscopy and Airway Decontamination (S.A.L.A.D.) Simulator uses suction to augment First Pass Success-Laryngoscopy (FPS-L) on a non-anesthetized patient experiencing emesis. It can also simulate a non-anesthetized patient you can use for practicing intubation, ventilation, and suction techniques. The S.A.L.A.D. Simulator is ideal for practicing oral, nasal, and digital intubation along with E.T., E.O.A., P.T.L, L.M.A., Combitube®, and King System insertion. The simulator allows for suction techniques and proper cuff inflation during active emesis.

Landmarks and anatomy include teeth, tongue, oral and nasal pharynx, larynx, epiglottis, arytenoids, false and true vocal cords, trachea, esophagus, and cricoid cartilage. Room to maneuver and a slightly anterior posturing makes the simulator excellent for introductory students as well as advanced practitioners.

Applying cricoid pressure will change the position of the trachea and will also close the esophagus. A rigid suction catheter will distract the lower mandible and tongue which permits laryngoscope insertion. The simulator allows students to realistically practice the Sellick maneuver.

The simulator features rugged, durable, one-piece construction and a manual carotid pulse. The total package includes “Airway Larry” Adult Airway Management Trainer Head, suction canister with 2 right-angle tubing adapters, gallon container with hand pump, two simulated latex-free lungs, thickener, rigid suction catheter, two 3-ft. lengths of clear vinyl tubing, pump spray lubricant, 5 red caps with white fittings, tubing couplings, 5 pinch clamps, #10 spanner bit, and carrying case with handle.
