In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Okinawa's reversion to mainland Japan, producer Naoki Tachikawa and island song researcher Tsukasa Kohama selected and supervised the compilation of Okinawa's music history and compiled it from the perspective of the year 2022. The Okinawa music scene is said to have been more active than that of Jamaica in the past, with as many as 50 labels in existence, starting with Marufuku Records, founded by Asaki Fukuhara in 1927. This work is a document of 106 years of sound source records (records) from the SP recordings made in 1916 to the present, and it is not only of historical value, but it is also composed with content that can be considered Okinawan music no matter where you listen to it.
