Donizetti (1797-1848)
Description:
Donizetti's opera "Rosmonda in England" was first performed in Florence in 1834, but soon disappeared from the repertoire. 1845 saw a one-time revival, but after that it was completely forgotten, In 1994, René Fleming recorded the complete work, but it too did not make the headlines. This 2016 production in Bergamo, 171 years after the 1845 revival, was so good that it reminded us that this opera is extremely charming. The beauty of Jessica Pratt as the title role, as well as Eva May's powerful singing as Leonora, are moving. Naxos Japan
