Auric Goldfi (Gert Frobe), 'the man with the Midas touch', melts down gold and recasts it into parts for his Rolls-Royce in order to smuggle the bullion around the world without detection. Driven by Oddjob, his deadly Korean manservant, the car has a twelve-cylinder engine weighing over 7,000 pounds and was capable of cruising at over 100 miles an hour. The passe compartment conceals the pull-down table where Goldfi begrudgingly signed a £5,000 cheque to Bond - his prize for winning their game of golf!
