Why this locomotive matters
The GWR 5101 Class Large Prairie Tank locomotives were among the most versatile steam engines built by the Great Western Railway. Designed by Charles Collett, they handled suburban passenger trains, branch line services, and freight duties across the network.
Locomotive 6153 carried British Railways black livery with the early crest, reflecting the transition from GWR ownership to nationalised railway operation after 1948. This livery captures a short but significant period in British railway history when former GWR engines served under BR management while retaining their Great Western character.
How to use it
Place the locomotive on any compatible OO gauge track and couple it to passenger coaches or goods wagons. It is well suited to branch line stations, suburban commuter services, and heritage railway displays. No assembly, paint, glue, or modelling tools are required.
This is a diecast model. It is fragile and not recommended for children.
