Taeko Oshima, a talented pianist, plays Schubert's masterpieces from his last days with her clear and clear tone! Based in Switzerland, Taeko Oshima is active in Japan and Europe. Her second release on the SONARE label, following the Scarlatti Piano Sonatas (SONARE-1039), is Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 13 and Schubert's Piano Sonata No. 21. Oshima's performance, full of elegance, is one of the finest. The clear tone of Schubert's last years is played. In Mozart's simple style, the range of intensity is restrained, but each touch is sublime, emphasizing the classical beauty of the work. Schubert's tone is also warm, but with a wider range of dunamics and more singing in the verses. Taeko Oshima (piano) began playing the piano at the age of 5. She studied at Toho Girls' High School of Music and at the Freiburg College of Music in Germany, where she graduated with top honors in both the performing and soloist courses. She studied piano with Yoshie Takara, Kazuko Yasukawa, Edith Picht-Axenfeldt, Tibor Hazay, and Hubert Harry.She has also frequently participated in summer courses given by Georges Chebeck and Paul Badura-Skoda. She has received numerous awards for both solo and chamber music, including the Best Accompanist Award in the cello section of the International Tchaikovsky Competition and a gold medal in the Epinal International Piano Competition.
