Description:
The Finnish talent Löwvari, who has made a big splash with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra since his first visit to Japan in 2011, succeeded renowned Scandinavian music specialist Hannu Lintu as principal conductor of the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra in his twenties. He also became the first principal conductor since Dudamel (2007-12) of the prestigious Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, known for its long relationship with maestro Nämé Järvi, in the fall of that year. This recording is his debut on the Alpha label and marks a memorable first step for Löwvari and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. The program is an exquisite coupling of Sibelius' Symphony No. 1, which was performed to great acclaim on his first visit to Japan, and En Saga, another masterpiece of Sibelius' youth. As you can see from the cover, Alpha, which is particular about its recordings, will fully convey the orchestra's ability to bring out the full sound of the orchestra with its unique action.
