The Parker 61 made it's debut in 1956 as a capillary filler and was updated to a cartridge/converter filler, this pen, in 1969.  This Consort version was discontinued in 1972.

Finished in Grey, this is a high end  'Consort' model.  It features a a very attractive cap, that holds twice the gold of the much more common 'Custom' cap, in an intricate 'brick' or grid design with deep cut lines.  The cap is imprinted as '1/5 12 Ct. R. Gold', meaning that it is 1/5th, by weight gold, a value for the gold alone, of about £25 at today's prices.

The pen has been fully serviced and tested.  It has the original metal Parker ink converter which works well and takes up a good volume of ink.  The 14 Ct. gold nib is superb, it writes with a super smooth and consistent broad line, particularly well suited for someone with a large, bold 'hand'.

The pen has a first class surface and the Gold filled 'arrowhead' motif inset into the hood is present, correct, and secure.  Too often they are found to be ill fitted, loose, or absent.  The rolled Gold cap is also in excellent condition with clear imprints.

The Parker 61 Custom is a high quality vintage pen with an excellent pedigree, based on the hugely successful Parker 51. It would make a first class daily writer.
