Old men here speak of ancient rites and customs in the past tense. But Lakay Arsenio Ligod still tells about Annusan and his beloved Bangan, the romance of the man who came from the sunrise region (beska-an), and the woman of the sunset land (dapnisan). They sing their legends in Kankanaey, but some old men insist that they be sung in Ilocano “so that these guests will understand it better.” (from p. 5)
