This is not the Malbec you’re looking for. How could it be? Considered the smallest producer in all of Argentina (they make less than 500 cases annually, w/ only 50 of those coming to the US), this is a 3-hectare estate, at 3000 feet of elevation, with 105-year-old vines! This is a super-special wine, closer in spirit to a fantastic old-school Bordeaux than to a super-modern Malbec: it has that elusive combo of animal/mineral/fruit we look for in the sexiest of red wines. Cloves, baked blackberries, dried leaves, licorice, cedar, and a perfect mixture of feral energy and old-school class.
