This is the iconic Great Britain 1 Penny Red, issued in 1841 as the successor to the Penny Black. The stamp features the left-facing profile of Queen Victoria, designed by William Wyon and engraved by Charles Heath. Printed in red-brown, it carries the corner plate letters “K K” for position identification. The lattice side design and stars in the upper corners are characteristic security features. Widely circulated, the Penny Red is a cornerstone of Victorian philately and remains one of the most collected stamps worldwide. This example is postally used, showing a barred numeral cancellation.
