Fine Quality Silver Pocket Watch by Samuel Smith, 9 Strand, London — “Watchmakers to the Admiralty”

A superb example of Samuel Smith craftsmanship, this gentleman’s silver pocket watch dates to the 1920s and showcases both English heritage and Swiss precision.

The solid silver case is hallmarked with two Swiss bears and stamped .935 grade silver. It features beautifully engine-turned engraving to the back with a plain central cartouche, all hinges perfect with no splits or repairs. The inner silver dust cover is present. Completed with a strong silver bow and a gold-toned winding button.

The white enamel dial is pristine, without cracks or chips, and displays bold black numerals with elegant gold hands and a subsidiary seconds dial at six.

Its high-grade Swiss jewelled movement is exceptionally clean and running strongly with a good steady tick. Finely engraved and signed “S. Smith & Sons, 9 Strand, Watchmakers to the Admiralty, London” with reference no. 1590277. The watch features a top-wind mechanism with pin setting.
