This custom-built Firestar showcases Frank Deimel’s unmistakable offset design and his attention to detail at every level. The swamp ash body wears a Charcoal Blue finish with an open-grain texture, paired with a natural anodized aluminum pickguard. The highly figured maple neck is topped with a dark Indian rosewood fingerboard for a smooth, articulate feel.

 

Under the hood, the pickup set is a masterfully voiced trio: a Curtis Novak JM-V in the neck, a WR-HB in the bridge, and a handwound Deimel JAG behind the bridge; all with aluminum covers made by Frank himself. The LesLee circuit adds another dimension, creating a subtle, rhythmic pulsing (vibrato like effect) between selected pickups. It charges in just a few minutes with the included cable and a 9V battery, with no battery stored inside the guitar. Once charged, the system is completely passive, letting you choose exactly which pickups are in play.

 

A built-in piezo expands the tonal palette even further, while the Mastery M1 bridge and Deimel MV vibrato ensure rock-solid tuning and responsive feel. From lush ambient textures to cutting, articulate tones, this Firestar is an instrument built for players who thrive on sonic exploration.
