A Note from TM Owner, Mark Jameson -
"Around 20 years ago we discovered an extremely well preserved original 1855 copy of this very rare manuscript by one of the fore fathers of French diving Joseph-Maritin Cabirol. As always, the very best items we discover are the fastest to sell and, in this instance, it seemed a shame that this very rare manuscript was going to quickly disappear into a private collection to be admired by few, when we knew so many diving enthusiasts that would enjoy this fascinating document and its beautiful lithographs.
So, with permission from the owner, we had a no expense spared replica made in a Limited Edition run of 100 books. Not the wisest move we ever made because they cost us so much to reproduce but we did end up with an impeccable result, and true tribute to the original and its author. Superb lithographs show divers & scenes showing ; clearing a propellor, floating and raising of wrecks, coral & sponge, underwater construction. Very enjoyable size , just like the original, no need to squint. A very hand some looking, soft covered book. We have only ever seen one other original copy come onto the market in 2012 which was relatively soiled and that one made around £3,500."
