About the Artist: Jean-Frédéric CANEPA (1894-1981) Marseille painter, was part of a group of Marseille painters who met at the “Peano” Bar and worked as colleagues, during "The Golden Age of Marseille"
Canepa was a student at the School of Fine Arts in Marseille from 1908 to 1916 and was a student of A. Moutte and M. Guindon among others.
In the 1930s, he decorated the Apollo, the Folies Bergères in Paris and two panels at the Palais de Justice de Marseille..
In 1938, he was appointed Professor at the Museum of Fine Arts in Marseille and set up his studio in the Quai de Rive Neuve in Marseille.
