ABOUT THE DESIGNER: Born in 1908, Frank Gross was a fashion designer in Vienna who came to Dunedin in 1934. A furrier by profession, he set up a fur fashion store in the Octagon, Dunedin. A prominent painter, he later moved to Christchurch, founding (1962) The Town and Country Society of Artists in an effort to unite local artists and art clubs. More information can be found here.
