A Fantastic - rare and very collectible Omega Seamaster 120 Baby Ploprof - Model Reference 166.0250 with a seatbelt bracelet, c.1979
The Omega Ploprof (short for Plongeur Professionnel, meaning “professional diver”) was developed in the late 1960s and launched in 1970 as one of the most robust dive watches ever made. Designed with input from legendary oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, it was purpose-built for saturation divers working at extreme depths. Its monobloc case, patented bezel-locking system, and extraordinary resistance to helium set it apart. Today, the Ploprof is celebrated as an icon of hardcore tool-watch engineering.
What's on Offer
This is a superb example of the Omega Seamaster 120 “Baby Ploprof,” a model beloved by collectors for offering the rugged, purpose-built DNA of the legendary Ploprof in a far more wearable package. Dating to circa 1979, this reference 166.0250 features the robust Calibre 1010 automatic movement (17 jewels) and retains all the charm that made the late-70s Seamasters so distinctive.
The matte black dial is beautifully preserved, with bold tritium indices and that unmistakable chunky handset—complete with broad arrow minute hand—now ageing to an attractive warm tone. The rotating bezel remains clear and legible, adding real tool-watch presence to the already striking asymmetrical case.
Completing the look is Omega’s iconic Milanese mesh “seatbelt” bracelet, giving the watch exceptional wrist presence while remaining incredibly comfortable. The case shows honest wear consistent with age, but overall presents in excellent vintage condition.
A brilliant opportunity to acquire a much-loved Omega diver with authentic Ploprof lineage—collectable, wearable and packed with character.
