Jack Dejohnette
Description:
Jack DeJohnette teamed up with a band full of greats, including Dave Holland, bassist for Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew" sessions, and Benny Maupin of Herbie Hancock's Headhunter Band, to release this classic album on Prestige in 1974. This is the first wide reissue since the original release. Meditative and trippy, but backed by a delicious groove ("Epilog," a deep digger drum break), and featuring Hendrix-on-jazz-steroids guitars by 6-string heroes John Abercrombie and Mick Goodrick, and a wealth of ahead-of-its-time electronic processing by DiJohnette. The work is rich in processing. Jack DiJohnette is a jazz drummer, pianist, and composer.Charles Lloyd, Freddie Hubbard, Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, John Abercrombie, Alice Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis, Joe Henderson, Michael Brecker, Herbie Hancock and John Scofield. He has worked extensively as a leader and sideman, and was inducted into the Modern Drummer's Hall of Fame in 2007. He is a two-time Grammy Award winner and has been nominated five other times. Cut from the original analog tapes by Kevin Gray, pressed at RTI, and reissued on 180g weight LP with chip-on jacket.
